Marijuana Butter in Crockpot

Weed-butter
The base of most marijuana edibles is marijuana butter or canibus butter.  It can be purchased at a local dispensery, or easiy made in the crockpot.  Once the marijuana butter is made, it is easy to add to your favorite cookie, brownie or muffin recipes.
Marijuana Butter Recipe*

Ingredients:
2 ½ pounds (six cups) of European Style high butterfat unsalted butter. I combined 8 oz of Plugra with 1 pound of Strauss Organic and 1 pound of Challenge European Style. Everyone has there own favorites but mine is Strauss. Strauss is smoother and less greasy than the others.
4 oz powdered Train Wreck Trim
2 oz powdered Pooh Bear Trim (a cross of Train Wreck and Salmon Creek Big Bud)
2 oz powdered California Orange trim
1/3 oz powdered California Orange flowers
(any trim you have available will work)
Method:
The butters were melted in a covered crock pot set on high. The powdered cannabis was gradually stirred in with a wood spoon. The mixture was frequently stirred and cooked covered on high for one hour followed by three hours set on low. Stirring was accomplished every 15 minutes.
After four hours the hot mixture was squeezed through cheese cloth into a bowl then the product was filtered once more through cheese cloth. All available butter was squeezed out producing approximately 3 ½ cups. Theoretically, the cloth balls remaining could be re-extracted with more butter but the product would not be nearly as strong. Approximately 75-85% of the available cannabinoids are extracted on the first pass.

Note on Preparation:
No gloves were used in squeezing the rather hot cloth balls into the collection vessel. If you go barehanded beware of burns. Usually the ball can be twisted and held at the top then you can press the ball with the wood spoon against the side of the collection vessel. Once the ball has cooled sufficiently you can “wring” out the last of the cannabutter. Yes, this is messy but will leave your hands oh so soft.
Note on Amount of powdered cannabis to use:
Use as much as will go into solution with the butter. This varies depending upon the cannabis and source.
Note on Potency:
Cannabutter is potent simply from the extreme effects produced from handling it.

How Marijuana Edibles are Made

by Fran Prisco

Medical marijuana edibles are becoming more and more popular among patients.  It is much easier to ingest the THC found in marijuana plants by eating it, than smoking.  So how are these marijuana edibles, such as brownies, cookies and muffins made?

Marijuana Butter

The key to making marijuana edibles is to first make marijuana butter.  Marijuana butter is made using butter and shake (loose leaves and droppings from marijuana plants) flour.  Using a crockpot the butter and marijuana flour are cooked for about 24 hours, strained and formed into butter. The butter can then be stored in the refrigerator until ready to bake.

Baking with Marijuana Butter

Now that the marijuana butter is made, it can be used in your everyday baking recipes.   Brownies are among the most favorite marijuana edible of choice.  They are easily made by substituting the oil in the recipe on the box with the marijuana butter.  You can also make the brownies from scratch again substituting the oil or butter in the recipe for the canna butter.  It is easy to find marijuana brownie recipes on the internet.

As easy as making the brownies, so are cookies and even rice crispy treats.  If you are not able to make your own marijuana butter, you can always purchase it at your local collective.  Canna butter usually sells for $35 - $40 per ¼ cup, enough for one recipe.  If baking is not your forte, you can always buy the edibles at the collective as well.

Medical Marijuana Edibles Introduction

Medical-marijuana-food
by Fran Prisco

As medical marijuana becomes acceptable in more and more states across the nation, so are the many ways of ingesting it.  One of the most popular ways to ingest marijuana is through edibles. Now it is no longer necessary to get the benefits of THC, the chemical in marijuana that relieves pain, sooths nausea and aides anxiety, through smoking, it is readily available in edible form.

Types of Marijuana Edibles:

Sweets—are the most common form of marijuana edible.  They are cookies, brownies, rice crispy treats and even candies.  Edible sweets come in different potencies, most common are 1x to 4x the THC potency.  Marijuana edibles can cost anywhere between $5 to $25 depending on strength of the THC and the size of the edible.  It is often only necessary to take a bite of two of the edible to get relief from pain or nausea.  Most marijuana edibles are made by reputable companies and will have ingredient labels just like to foods purchased at the grocery store.

Drinks—are another form of edible marijuana.  Lemonade, punch and soft drinks can be found at many collectives that contain THC.  These drinks are a refreshing alternative to smoking marijuana.  Marijuana drinks can cost between $10 to $15 per bottle.  Again, it may only be necessary to drink a small portion of the bottle to get the effects of the THC.  Try a few sips of the drink first, wait 20 to 30 minutes and see if you require more.

Condiments—can also be purchased with THC in them.  These marijuana edibles include salad dressings, butter, ketchup and mustards.  Now you can easily enjoy the benefits of THC without having to smoke.  You can just enjoy your normal meals, and get the THC in the condiments of your meals.

More and more states are allowing medical marijuana as legal form of medications.  More and more collectives are opening with all types of products that contain the THC that is found in the marijuana plant.
